Heartgard Plus is an easy-to-administer, real beef-flavored oral chewable treatment, formulated for the prevention of heartworm disease in dogs and puppies from 6 weeks of age. With Ivermectin and Pyrantel as active ingredients, the treatment eliminates the tissue stage of heartworm larvae, thus preventing heartworm disease. This monthly treatment is also indicated for the treatment and control of roundworms and hookworms. The treatment is suitable for use in pregnant and breeding dogs.

How does it work?

Heartgard Plus is made with two active ingredients, Ivermectin and Pyrantel. Ivermectin kills heartworm larvae and keeps the parasite from growing, thus preventing heartworm disease. Pyrantel Pamoate, on the other hand, effectively treats and controls infestations caused by roundworms and hookworms.

While Heartgard Plus protects dogs against heartworm disease, hookworms, roundworms and other ascarids, Heartgard for Dogs only protects against heartworm disease.

• Which treatment is better? Heartgard Plus or NexGard Plus?

. Heartgard Plus and NexGard Plus are two distinct treatments with different compositions and parasite coverage. While NexGard Plus contains afoxolaner, moxidectin and pyrantel as active ingredients, it protects dogs against fleas, black-legged ticks, American dog ticks, brown dog ticks, and lone-star ticks and prevents heartworm disease and treats & controls roundworms and hookworms.

• Are Heartgard Plus Chews safe?

Heartgard Plus chews are safe for dogs and puppies from 6 weeks of age, with no minimum weight requirement, provided they are administered by following the directions provided in the product label.

The treatment has shown a wide margin of safety at the recommended dose level in dogs, including pregnant or breeding and stud dogs.

• How long does a dose of Heartgard Plus last?

A single dose of Heartgard Plus remains effective for 30 days.

• How should I administer Heartgard Plus to my dog?

Heartgard Plus can be administered to dogs directly or by mixing with a small amount of food. The chews should be administered in a way that encourages the dog to chew them. The tablets can be broken into pieces and fed to dogs. It should be ensured that the dog consumes the complete dose of the treatment.
