What is Nexgard?

Nexgard Chewables is a potent oral flea and tick treatment for dogs. Formulated with Afoxolaner as its active ingredient, these beef-flavored, palatable chewables effectively kill adult fleas and prevent flea infestations. These monthly chewables alsotreat and control black-legged tick, American dog tick, lone star tick, brown dog tick and long-horned tick infestations. Suitable for dogs and puppies from 8 weeks of age, weighing at least 4 lbs, Nexgard Chewables are also indicated for the prevention of Lyme disease in dogs.

How Does Nexgard (Afoxolaner) Work?

Nexgard Chewables leverages a powerful ingredient called Afoxolaner, which is a member of the isoxazoline family. It binds with the chloride channels at the binding sites, inhibits channels gated by the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and disrupts the pre-and post-synaptic transfer of chloride ions across cell membranes. The prolonged afoxolaner-induced hyperexcitation leads to uncontrolled activity of the central nervous system of the parasites, eventually causing paralysis and death of these parasites.

• Recommended for dogs and puppies from 8 weeks of age

• Weight your dog beforehand to ascertain the accurate dosing
• It can be administered with or without food
• Administer the dose orally, directly into your dog’s mouth
• Make sure that the entire dose is consumed
• Monitor your dog for two hours to see if the dose is lost or if vomiting occurs, and re-dose the full dose in such cases
• Administer monthly. If you miss a dose, then give a full dose and resume monthly administration

Afoxolaner

• Intended for dog use only
• Store at or below 30°C (86°F) with excursions permitted up to 40°C (104°F)
• Keep out of reach of kids and pets
• Use with caution in dogs with a history of seizers or neurological disorders
• In case of human ingestion, seek medical help immediately
