Heartworms

• Indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis).

Intestinal worms

• Aids in the control of adult hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum) infections.
• Helps remove & control adult roundworm (Toxocara canis & Toxascaris leonina) infections.
• Helps remove & control whipworm (Trichuris vulpis) infections.

Indicated for

Puppies and dogs from 4 weeks of age, weighing 2 lbs or greater.

• Comprehensive worm control: Protects from different species of common intestinal worms (roundworms, hookworms and whipworms).
• Heartworm disease prevention: Offers an effective defense against heartworm disease.
• Flavored chews: Formulated in a palatable flavored chews for easy administration.
• Flexible administration: If the dog does not take it directly, it may be offered in food.

• Weigh your dog and select the dosage pack that closely matches its weight.
• Interceptor should be administered orally once every month, preferably on the same date.
• The chew may also be given with food or administered as other oral tablets. Monitor your dog closely for some time to ensure the entire dose is taken. If you suspect that a part of the dose is missed, give a full recommended dose immediately.
• For heartworm disease prevention, administer the first dose within one month of the dog's first exposure to mosquitoes and once every month thereafter until the end of mosquito season.
• When switching from heartworm preventive containing Diethylcarbamazine (Dec) to Interceptor, administer the first dose within 30 days after the last dose of Diethylcarbamazine (Dec).
• When you miss a dose, administer one dose immediately and resume the regular dosing schedule.

• Milbemycin Oxime
• Praziquantel

According to the product label, milbemycin oxime has been tested safely in pregnant females and breeding male and female dogs. You should keep this treatment out of reach of children and uninformed people.

According to clinical field studies referenced in the label, milbemycin oxime was used safely in dogs receiving anthelmintics, antibiotics, steroids, vaccines, flea collars, dips and shampoos.

Precautions

Wash your hands after handling the treatment. Dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infections before administering Interceptor and infected dogs should be treated to remove adult heartworms.

Contraindications

This treatment is not indicated for use in puppies under 4 weeks of age or less than 2 lbs of body weight.

What is Interceptor?

How does this broad-spectrum wormer work?

This dog wormer contains milbemycin oxime. After administration, the formula is quickly absorbed into the dog's bloodstream. Milbemycin oxime eliminates the tissue stage of heartworm larvae (Dirofilaria immitis) and prevents heartworm disease. The anthelmintic properties of this formula eliminate the adult stage of hookworms, roundworms and whipworm infections.

What is the difference between Interceptor and Interceptor Spectrum (Interceptor Plus)?

Interceptor Flavor Tablet contains milbemycin oxime and it protects dogs from heartworm disease, roundworms, hookworms and whipworms. Interceptor Spectrum (Interceptor Plus) contains milbemycin oxime and praziquantel. It effectively protects dogs from heartworm disease, roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and tapeworms.

How soon can I start using this worm treatment on my dog?

This broad-spectrum wormer for dogs is suitable for puppies from 4 weeks of age with at least 2 lbs of body weight.

My dog does not take the chew directly. What should I do?

In case your dog does not take the chew directly, you may mix it with their food. When giving the treatment in the food, ensure the dog takes the complete dose. If you think that the complete dose has not been taken, give another full dose.

Can I replace my dog's heartworm preventive with Interceptor?

When replacing your dog's heartworm preventive containing DEC (Diethylcarbamazine citrate) with Interceptor, administer the first dose of Interceptor within 30 days of the transition and resume the monthly schedule.

I've missed a dose of Interceptor. What should I do?

When you miss a dose, give one dose immediately and resume the monthly schedule.

How frequently should I give this heartworm preventive to my dog?

Interceptor Flavor Tabs is indicated for use once every month. You should administer this treatment preferably on the same date each month.
