Afoxolaner, Milbemycin Oxime
It can be used in breeding, pregnant, or lactating female dogs. As this is an oral treatment, there are no restrictions on bathing and swimming before or after administration. Avoid opening the inner pouch until you are ready to administer the treatment. You should keep these chews out of reach of children and pets. Wash your hands thoroughly using soap and water after handling.
The safety of these chews in breeding male dogs has not been evaluated. It should be used with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. In such cases, consult a veterinarian before use.
It is not suitable for use on puppies under 8 weeks of age or weighing less than 4.4 lbs. Do not use this treatment in humans.

NexGard Spectra for dogs is a monthly flavored chew that protects puppies and dogs from a range of external and internal parasites, including fleas, ticks, heartworms, intestinal worms, mange and mites.
This monthly chew contains afoxolaner and milbemycin oxime. These active ingredients are quickly absorbed into the dog's bloodstream after administration. The formula targets the nervous systems of parasites. Afoxolaner works on external parasites, including fleas, ticks and mites. Milbemycin oxime protects from internal parasites, such as heartworms and intestinal worms.
NexGard contains afoxolaner as its active ingredient and it protects dogs from external parasites, including fleas and ticks. It is also indicated for the prevention of Lyme disease infections as a direct result of killing the (black-legged) vector ticks. NexGard Spectra contains afoxolaner and milbemycin oxime and is effective against both external and internal parasites, including fleas, ticks, heartworms, intestinal worms, mites and mange.
NexGard Spectra is effective against roundworms, hookworms and whipworms.
When your dog refuses to take the chew directly into the mouth, you can give it a small amount of food. Watch your dog closely and ensure the complete dose is taken. If you suspect that the full dose has not been taken, give another dose.
You can begin treating your puppy with this flea, tick and worm treatment from 8 weeks of age, ensuring they weigh at least 4.4 lbs.
NexGard Spectra features soy proteins. However, these chews are free from gluten and meat protein, including in the beef-flavoring. You should use them with caution in dogs with hypersensitivity to soy and consult a vet before use in such cases.
This broad-spectrum treatment for dogs should be administered once every month, on or about the same day each month.
According to the field studies referenced by the manufacturer, NexGard Spectra is tolerated by dogs receiving other treatments simultaneously, including dewormers, antibiotics, topicals, cardiac treatments, vaccines, anaesthetics, pain-killers, diuretics, anti-inflammatories and sedatives. For the safety of your dog, it is recommended that you talk to a veterinarian before using it concurrently.
One of the active ingredients in NexGard Spectra, afoxolaner, is a member of the isoxazoline family of drugs, which has been associated with adverse reactions, including seizures. There are no specific indications of the use of this treatment in dogs with epilepsy. It is indicated that you use treatments containing isoxazolines with caution in dogs with a history of epilepsy or other neurologic disorders. Read the product label carefully and consult a veterinarian before using this treatment.
