• Weigh your dog and select the appropriate pack.
• It should be administered orally once every month, on or about the same day each month.
• You can begin your dog's treatment with it at any time of the year.
• It can be given directly into the dog's mouth or with a small amount of food, ensuring the complete dose is taken. If you suspect that part of the dose is not taken, give a second dose.
• When you miss a dose, give a dose immediately and resume the regular dosing schedule.
• If switching from another heartworm preventive, give the first dose of NexGard Spectra within 30 days of the last dose of the previous preventive.
• Talk to a veterinarian prior to starting a heartworm preventive program.

Afoxolaner, Milbemycin Oxime

It can be used in breeding, pregnant, or lactating female dogs. As this is an oral treatment, there are no restrictions on bathing and swimming before or after administration. Avoid opening the inner pouch until you are ready to administer the treatment. You should keep these chews out of reach of children and pets. Wash your hands thoroughly using soap and water after handling.

Precautions

The safety of these chews in breeding male dogs has not been evaluated. It should be used with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. In such cases, consult a veterinarian before use.

Contraindications

My dog does not take this chew directly. What should I do?

When your dog refuses to take the chew directly into the mouth, you can give it a small amount of food. Watch your dog closely and ensure the complete dose is taken. If you suspect that the full dose has not been taken, give another dose.

Can I give NexGard Spectra to my dog with food allergies?
